João Geraldo Piquet Carneiro focuses his practice in administrative law, antitrust law and litigation. He has extensive experience in arguing cases before the administrative agencies, including regulatory and antitrust agencies and accounting courts, as well as in arguing cases before the higher courts in Brasília.
Piquet Carneiro has served in various positions in the Brazilian public administration. He was a member of the first Federal Privatization Committee in Brazil and was the Executive Secretary (1979-1982) and Coordinator of the National Debureaucratization Program, with a status of Ministry (1983-1985). He also served as the Secretary of Administration of the Federal District (1985), as member of the Tax Reform Committee (1992), as advisor of the National Deregulation Program (1990-1992), as member of the University of São Paulo’s Group of Constitutional Revision (1993), and as member of the State Reform Council (1996- 1998).
More recently, Piquet Carneiro has served as the chairman of the Public Ethics Commission of the Brazilian Federal Government (1999-2004).
