Professional Experience
Marcelo Mattos is one of the senior partners of the Banking and Finance practice of Veirano Advogados. Marcelo assists a number of financial institutions in Brazil and abroad, as well as multilateral agencies. He has represented both lenders and borrowers in financing transactions related to different areas such as: mining, naval, health, energy and Oil & Gas industry. Marcelo has participated in the privatization of major public electrical, gas and telecommunication companies, with expertise in the analysis of contracts, regulatory issues and financing legal aspects. He has also represented clients in a variety of transactions related to import finance, M&As and project finance of different activities. Practice also focus in representing foreign companies in public bids before the Brazilian government and its branches, bodies and political subdivisions and public companies.
Marcelo is also a specialist in shipping finance, having assisted during the past decade many lenders, local ship owners, shipyards, as well as private financial agents in connection with the financing of the construction of vessels, including as BNDES agents for financing with funds from the Marine Merchant Fund. Marcelo has also assisted many FPSO and services providers in connection with contracts related to the Oil & Gas industry.
Marcelo worked as a foreign associate at White & Case in New York in 1997/1998.
