Veirano expansion continues with double lateral hire
Ali Hage, 40, joins the firm’s energy department from BG’s Aberdeen office in Scotland, while former Rio de Janeiro Appeals Court judge Marcia Cunha, 55, will assist Veirano’s litigation, arbitration and restructuring practices.
Hage is the more recent of the two hires. The new partner began work at the firm’s Rio office on Tuesday after 13 years at BG. He has worked in private practice before, at Mattos Filho and Demarest. He is licensed to practice in Brazil, England and Wales.
Elsewhere at Veirano, Cunha, who started work on Monday in Rio, strengthens multiple practice areas. Between 1992 and 2014, Cunha served as a judge for Rio’s 2nd business court and 44th civil court, before being promoted to a justice at the state’s 21st and 22nd chambers of appeals. During her career, she has rendered more than 20,000 decisions in areas ranging from contractual matters and international disputes to civil actions and judicial restructurings.
